As many of you know, I have a 100-mile daily commute. I am an avid audiobook reader, and I am going to attempt to read 50 books over the course of 50 weeks this year (I actually have 4 weeks vacation, but I will read some hardbacks on my vacation weeks.) I am allowing 2 weeks of personal time, where I potentially won't be able to read.
Anyway, I will post reviews on every title that I read upon completion, and, at the end of the year - I will make a Top 5 Best/Worst list. I am soliciting suggestions/recommendations now and throughout the year for any titles. I will make the following acknowledgements going in to this process:
1. I will attempt to alternate between fictional novels, and non-fiction texts. This is a regular practice for me; it breaks the monotony.
2. I will push to the fron of the list any novel released by the following novelists: Thomas Harris, Lee Child, Patricia Cornwell (Kay Scarpetta only), Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, or Greg Rucka. I will go out of my way to read anything Stephen King writes this year.
3. I am, as most of you know, a right-wing nut job, so I will read most of the classic nut job propoganda as it is released. I may read some Leftist stuff, but not if I can help it.
4. As I said, I am an audiobook reader, and I am pinched for time, so, when possible, I will isten to the abridged version - over unabridged.
5. Unless a book is contributed, my selection will come from www.jocolibrary.org - so if it is not in their selection, I ain't reading it.
I will certainly take any donated books - make sure that they are viable CD's. I appreciate any feedback you may have.
Finally, here is a list of the books that I am committed to start on in the first few weeks:
1. My Appetite for Destruction, Steven Adler.
2. Trickle Up Poverty, Michael Savage.
3. Full Dark, No Stars, Stephen King.
4. Dead or Alive, Tom Clancy.
5. Life, Keith Richards.
6. Unbroken, Laura Hillenbrand.
Some of these may change, but most won't. Please stay posted - and wish me luck!!!
